Legacy Baby Dedication Orientation
We are so excited that you are interested in dedicating your child through our Legacy program. We know baby dedication is done a variety of ways around the world, so this will help you understand how we do it at Port City Community Church.
What is (and isn't) legacy?
Legacy is our baby dedication program here at Port City Church. It is a chance to publicly declare that God is going to be a large part of your parenting and your desire for your family.
Legacy is NOT baby baptism. We do not sprinkle or dunk your child in water during this event. Legacy does NOT equal salvation for your child. We believe salvation is a personal relationship with Christ, and that your child can make that decision to follow God as they get older and more mature in their faith.
how do we get started?
We require our Legacy families to first attend an Orientation Night. At that Orientation, the parents will spend time digging into God's word to see what the Biblical design for parenting is. You will also have some "homework" during this time (don't worry, you won't have to turn it in). This is just a chance for the parents to have intentional conversations about their vision for their family.
What happens after orientation?
Once the family completes Orientation, they will take part in a Sunday-morning celebration ceremony. During that ceremony we will have parents up on stage with their children, sharing a bit about their family, and being prayed over in front of our church. We encourage families to invite as many family and friends as possible to this Sunday celebration so they can share in the joy of the day.
