local missions

Jesus told His followers that we are to love God first and love our neighbors as ourselves. We believe that love is most naturally shown when we sacrificially serve our local community. We seek to partner with organizations that are helping the most pressing physical & spiritual needs in our community.

STEP UP WILMINGTON ● INSTRUCT, SUPPORT, SERVE

Step Up Wilmington is a non-profit organization that empowers individuals to find and keep satisfying work through job readiness and life skills training. They are dedicated to assisting men and women in the Cape Fear area who are most in need of work.

SATURDAY MEALS/VIGILANT HOPE ● PREPARE MEALS, TRANSPORT, SERVE

Every Saturday in downtown Wilmington, PC3 volunteer teams prepare and serve a hot lunch meal to our neighbors in need who are hungry and/or homeless. Through this ministry, many people have received encouragement and have witnessed the love of Christ.

SERV Team ● BUILD, SERVE, ADMINISTRATIVE

Service Emergency Response Volunteers (SERV) is a PC3 Leland Team willing to assist with various situations that arise within our community.  Some examples are: assisting with getting a person home after a hospital stay; helping a homeowner fix corroded water pipes; helping an elderly church member change a light bulb that requires an extension ladder, or gathering and distributing water after a serious weather event. As you might imagine, certain situations may require specific skills so having a wide variety of persons with various abilities is necessary. Many situations will require no special skills, and all situations will simply require love and compassion. Contact Campus Pastor, Don Brown, for more information.

A SAFE PLACE ● ADVOCATE, ASSIST, DONATE

A Safe Place is an empowerment organization focusing on prevention, advocacy, and restoration to assist victims of commercial sexual exploitation and domestic minor sex trafficking.   They serve the southeast region of North Carolina with the following programs: a toll-free, anonymous hotline, transitional housing, direct support services and an Outreach Center.  These available to any victim identified by A Safe Place, partner organizations or law enforcement.

MATTHEW’S MINISTRY ● PACK, ADMINISTRATION, DONATE

With childhood hunger on the rise in our community, Matthew’s Ministry is dedicated to providing food for children in need in many schools across Brunswick County. This service is proving to be life-changing through positive results such as greater nourishment, less behavior problems, higher test scores, and happier children. Matthew’s Ministry also works alongside social workers who see a need for food when they visit homes with children.

BRUNSWICK FAMILY ASSISTANCE ● SERVE, ADMINISTRATIVE, DONATE

Brunswick Family Assistance (BFA) is a transformative, forward-looking and collaborative organization that helps low income people in Brunswick County to live a high quality of life. We envision a community where all people have access to an adequate and nutritious supply of food and sufficient resources to sustain themselves. BFA is dedicated to improving the lives of families and individuals in crisis in Brunswick County, who are willing to help themselves, by providing emergency assistance and educational and skills development programs.

SCHOOL SERVE OPPORTUNITIES ● TUTOR, SERVE, DONATE

At Port City Community Church, we believe our community will know how God is for them by the way we serve them. There are many opportunities to serve our community by investing in our schools: donating supplies, participating in teacher appreciation opportunities, providing classroom and testing support, etc. PC3 wants to be positioned to respond as needs arise throughout the year. Contact Campus Pastor, Don Brown, for more information.
